experts from a wide range of disciplines to discuss infrastructure solutions and challenges in particular as related
to climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation in the 21st century. The conference will provide a regional
platform to explore practical technological solutions in the design, construction and operation of infrastructure. Key
areas of the dialogue include technology solutions and new assessment strategies, industry sustained growth and
identification of public and professional risk.
THEME
The goal of the conference is to highlight how engineers and the engineering profession, through scientific and
technological advancements and the formulation of assessment tools, are advancing efforts to mitigate, adapt and
build resilience to the effects of a changing climate, constraints of evolving financial times, and demands of public
interests. The key focus is on infrastructure solutions that will sustain themselves far into the future, taking into
consideration new risks and challenges.
Presentations describing the following topics will be considered for inclusion in the conference:
• Infrastructure Technology Choices
• Engineering Design Solutions
• Material Selection
• Low Carbon Infrastructure
• Project Assessment Tools
• Economics, Cost and Risk Management
• Sustainability Considerations for the Engineering Profession
• Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation for the Engineering Profession
Special focus will be on case studies for all infrastructure projects, including water, wastewater, transport, energy,
solid waste, infrastructure planning, land use and zoning, construction technology and materials, emergency
